Race calender
During the speed skating season several races are organized by various student speed skating associations. These races are divided into Interuniversity Tournaments (IUT) and Dutch Student Championships (NSK’s). For the less experienced members there mini-tournaments will be organized during some normal training sessions , so everyone can experience what it is like to ride a race.
The race calendar for the 2019-2020 season, with reservation, is as follows:
The most recent calender can be found on the website of the NSSU.
Interuniversity Tournaments
The IUTs are accessible to all students, regardless of level. It is ridden in three groups of different level: A, B and C, wherein A riders are the fastest. That way you do not have to be afraid of being lapped in your first race. These races are therefore a perfect opportunity to become familiar with the phenomenon of skating a race and to set your first personal records (PRs). In a normal year there are 7 IUTs: in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Groningen, Enschede, Tilburg, Eindhoven and Nijmegen.
Dutch Student Championships
Besides the IUTs, there are NSK’s (Nederlandse Studenten Kampioenschappen). In this tournament, it is the fastest speed skaters that are competing. At registration previous ridden times are also selected on. This year there are 5 NSK’s: Distances, Allround, Sprint, Shorttrack and Marathon. These competitions are organized in turn by the various associations. For advanced riders, these are good opportunities to compete with the Dutch student top.
